Dr. David Devadas, Distinguished Fellow, Institute of Social Sciences and Contributing Editor, First Post, gave a special talk titled ‘CPEC, Kashmir and India-Pakistan Relations’ on 20 September 2018.

Being an eminent journalist and scholar in the field, Dr. Devadas shared insights gathered from personal research conducted over the years. He touched not only the political and strategic aspects of the CPEC, but also the consequences of the project in the field of agriculture and energy production in the region. Further, he delved into the potential of the grid to facilitate cultural exchanges and diplomatic channels. He expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Kashmir and the vulnerable position of India in the face of increasingly closer ties of China and Pakistan. The talk was very engaging and stimulating, and led to a round of inquisitive questions being raised by the audience. Overall, the distinguished speaker covered multiple aspects of the issue and provided a fresh perspective on the topic.
